A2P 10DLC Regulation Overview
What is A2P 10DLC?
Starting September 1, a new government regulation, A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code), comes into effect. Its primary aim is to ensure that SMS traffic sent to U.S. end-users through long-code phone numbers is verified and consensual. Over the years, spam messages have eroded consumer trust in SMS communication. In response, carriers in the U.S. have implemented A2P 10DLC as the standard to regulate this communication pathway.
How Does this Affect SecureDock?
SecureDock utilizes SMS messaging via a dedicated 10DLC number through our third-party service provider, Twilio. We’ve already initiated the necessary registration process as required by A2P 10DLC. However, due to high demand and the comprehensive review process involved, SecureDock is still awaiting confirmation that the registration has been verified and completed. This process may take several weeks to finalize. As the August 31 deadline has already passed, SMS delivery for SecureDock users may experience disruptions.
Recommended Action:
For Users with 2FA via SMS:
If you currently rely on SMS for two-factor authentication (2FA) when logging into your SecureDock account, we recommend updating your security settings by switching to the Authenticator App as your primary 2FA method. Here’s how:
- Log in to your SecureDock account by visiting: https://www.mysecuredock.com/m
- From the Dashboard page, navigate to Settings on the left sidebar.
- Within the Settings page, click the Security tab.
- Select Authenticator App as your preferred 2FA login method.
- Don’t forget to click Save to apply your changes.
For Users Sending Outbound Access Codes via SMS:
If you regularly send outbound access codes via SMS, we suggest generating your own code and securely communicating it with your recipient.
